Specialist Independant Traders Tasting (SITT) March 2011
For many wine importers and suppliers SITT is one of the most important tasting events of the year, and 2011 was no different. Held in both Manchester and London it gives smaller companies the chance to show a range of their wines to retailers, sommeliers, and press – many that we know, and quite a few that we don’t.
Manchester’s show is held at the spacious and light Bridgewater Hall and is a more relaxed affair with time to spend with every person who comes to see you; London’s, in the arches of Vinopolis, is “go” right from the start!
This year we showed 30 wines, and many commented that we were the “stand of the show”! I have no reason to doubt them – all the wines were showing well, but personally my favourites were the Capel Vale Cabernet Merlot 2008 (WA), Camino Romano 2008 (Ribera del Duero), and the Remy Gresser Gewurztraminer Kritt 2008. My choices, and I’ve no doubt that both Jean-Pierre and Akos would choose something else!
Happy drinking!
