Celebrating 16 years!
Top Selection was incorporated in June 2000 by Ákos Forczek, who earned his stripes at LVMH, where he was Export Director for Hennessey and Moet & Chandon for Eastern Europe. He was later joined by his wife, Michelle Forczek, a preeminent financial services expert and, in 2004, Jean-Pierre Rabaste, a renown sommelier.
Top Selection first started attracting attention when Ákos became the first person in the UK to start selling German wines to the trade, specifically those by Egon Müller. Critics were initially skeptical, however Ákos was correct to trust his intuitive business acumen: Today, Egon Müller’s wines are the most expensive in the world and demand in the UK far exceeds supply.
Shortly after, winemakers István Szepsy and David Duband joined Top Selection’s roster, blossoming and achieving world fame.
Innovation remains a strong part of the company’s ethos. Top Selection has added many producers to its “ones to watch” list including Leduc Piedimonte, the first Canadian Ice Cider imported into Europe, Spaniard Angel Sequeiros (who’s Foudre won Decanter’s Best in Show), Kai Schätzel (another award-winning German producer who is also the VDP’s newest member) and Austrian Rosi Schuster.
Over the past few years, several leading producers joined the Top Selection stable, including Calera (California), Ceretto (Piedmont) and Kracher (Burgenland).
Since its inception, the company has grown to 10 employees and sources wines from over 70 producers from 16 countries and four dozen different wine producing regions. Ákos is also the founding member of the Botrytis Forum, which brings together four of the world’s leading noble rot producers (Egon Müller, Kracher, Château de Fargues and Szepsy) for an exclusive bi-annual conference.
Today, Top Selection has cemented its reputation as one of the finest wine and spirits suppliers in London.
During the month of June, Top Selection will have several special offers, including limited edition mixed cases for their private clients.
