Calera winery lunch at Sixtyone with Josh Jensen
On Monday 2nd March 2015, Top Selection hosted a memorable lunch at 3 AA Rosettes SixtyOne Restaurant in Marylebone for a select group of trade professionals and sommeliers. The special guest for the lunch was Josh Jensen of Calera, described by Robert Parker as “One of the most compelling Pinot Noir specialists of not only the New World, but of Planet Earth.” Josh told the story of how he helped harvest the fields of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and found that for him, the most important component of the Côte de Nuits was the limestone ridge running through it. He returned home to California and found his own limestone rich soils on which to grow his beloved Pinot Noir.
The menu consisted of Octopus, Ox cheek and a delightful Rhubarb, frozen yoghurt and raspberry dessert. These dishes enhanced by the words and knowledge from Josh and his wines: Central Coast Viognier 2012, Central Coast Chardonnay 2012, Central Coast Pinot Noir 2012 and Mt Harlan Jensen Vineyard Pinot Noir 2011.
All the wines showed fantastically well, and we were all humbled by the great man!
