Egon Müller Kanta  – ‘Kanta’ Riesling, Adelaide Hills

History

Egon Müller is arguably Germany’s most highly renowned winemaker, being the fifth generation of his family to produce wines on the famed Scharzhofberg (the only “Great Growth” of the Saar Valley). Egon has teamed up with vineyard and winery owners Shaw and Smith and Adelaide winemaker Steve Pannell to produce this exemplary wine. Kanta is a Sanskrit word meaning the beloved.

Tasting Notes

Kanta’s 2010 Riesling offers a wonderfully fragrant nose of honeysuckle, orange blossom and white peaches with nuances of fresh lemon, coriander seed and grapefruit peel. Medium bodied, dry and with a great concentration of vibrant citrus and stone fruit flavors, it has a lot more silkiness to the texture than most Rieslings and a long honeyed finish. – The Wine Advocate
