The Buyer: Inside the Top Selection 25th Anniversary Portfolio Tasting

Written by

This May, we marked a major milestone as Top Selection celebrated 25 years with our biggest Portfolio Tasting to date. Held at London’s IET Savoy Place, the event brought together trade partners, sommeliers, press, and producers from around the world for a full day of tasting, masterclasses, and discovery.

Over 500 wines from 36 producers were showcased, representing 20 countries and a cross-section of some of the world’s most exciting boutique and family-owned estates. Guests had the opportunity to meet the winemakers behind the bottles and explore new releases, exclusive allocations, and future listings.

A particular highlight was the official launch of our first-ever own-label collection, ULMUS, developed in collaboration with some of the world’s leading winemakers. The collection, which includes wines from Argentina, Hungary, Italy, and France, made its debut at the tasting and received an enthusiastic reception.

The day also featured a trio of exclusive masterclasses, with Head Winemaker Mike Waller of Calera presenting a vertical tasting to mark Calera’s 50th anniversary, followed by a once-in-a-lifetime Botrytis Masterclass featuring Egon Müller, Szepsy, and Château de Fargues, and concluding with a journey through Tuscany’s great Sangioveses.

In their feature coverage, The Buyer captured the energy of the event, profiling the producers and wines that made the day such a success, from long-standing partners like Boroli, David Duband, Duckhorn and Yves Cuilleron, to new arrivals including Bodegas Baigorri of Rioja Alavesa.

The tasting offered not only a celebration of the past 25 years but also a clear statement of Top Selection’s ongoing mission: to champion authentic, world-class wines for the UK’s most discerning trade customers.
